The Question:

Dan,how do you find the grams of carb, protein and fat of a diet.My total calorie intake is 1775 calories.
My carbs calorie intake is 887.5
protein is 443.75
and finally my fat intake is 443.75.
,br> What is the formula for that. Thank you. P.S This site is tops!

The Answer:

There are 4 calories in one gram of carbohydrate
4 calories in one gram of protein
and 9 calories in one gram of fat.

To determine the number of grams, take the number of calories and divide it by the number of calories per gram. 887.5 / 4 = 221.9 grams of carbohydrate. 443.75 / 4 = 110.9 grams of protein. 443.75 / 9 = 49.3 grams of fat.

Remember that meats have a high water content, and something like a chicken breast is not "pure" protein by any means.
